The Kentucky Derby is a huge event every year and did you know you can even celebrate this fun day in KC!? Yep, that's right! The Mission Project hosts an annual Kentucky Derby Gala that will be held on May 2nd at Hotel Sorella! To get ready for the event I pulled together looks from Brooks Brothers and Macy's from Town Center Plaza for a t.v. segment on KC Live. You can watch the video and get all the outfit details from the t.v. segment below. PS how amazing do my models look?

MACY'S at Town Center supplied our gorgeous looks!

My look (left): Big blue hat (in store) similar here, Halter floral dress, Jeweled bracelet and similar nude heels

Heather's look (middle): Her own fascinator similar here, Body Con dress (in-store) similar here, mint bracelet and similar pink pumps

Jennifer's look (right): Big peach hat (in store) similar here, Fit and Flare dress, Statement pink necklace (in store) similar here and similar pointed toe sling backs

STYLE TIPS:

Kentucky Derby party attire for the GALS: The usual equation for a Kentucky Derby look is a BIG hat (so fun) a printed dress and fun shoes to match! For all of these looks we picked out the dresses first and then picked all the accessories second. And I completely recommend it! As long as you feel fab! The rest will follow. Then we picked colorful accessories from the colors of the dresses to complete the look.

Kentucky Derby party attire for GUYS: For this event the guys get to have a lot of fun! For the guys it is all about the pants! Yes pants! So be sure to pick a fit that is the most comfortable for your man. Mine loves a more relaxed fit - so I have to make sure they hit just right at the shoe and breaks nicely. Be sure to have pattern, either in the shirt or pant or both! Yes both! This is the time to go for it and just have fun with it.

Kentucky Derby party attire as a COUPLE: Now how to make these two crazy looks come together... Just make sure there is a color in his look that compliments yours. So take James' dark red pants, they totally pull out the red tones in Heather's multi colored printed dress. And Doug's pastel look is full of softer shades and allows Heather's look to really stand out. His pink bow tie totally pulls the two looks together beautifully. So pick out your looks because you want to have fun and enjoy it!

Getting to work with these special mamas was a super fun project!
