Tie It Up
Nordstrom Rack dress similar here, here, and here, Nordstrom sandals, Old tan clutch similar here
The other day I was at Nordstrom Rack just checking out a great sale they were having and I started hunting down dresses. Tons of them. If you follow me on snapchat (@caitfore) then you might remember this particular day. I showed all the pieces that I found (that I assumed would look good with the bump) and the pieces I knew I couldn't leave without. This lace up dress was definitely one of them. First the color is my fav and second I felt like the lace up front was just too sassy not to love. The only problem was the fact that the girls were hanging out (if you know what I mean) and I knew I wasn't about to actually go braless to make this thing work. So when I got home I tried it on again and looked at it in my mirror to see how high I would need to sew (yes hand sew) the seam shut and hight enough to not show off the girls (I'm not 19 and I didn't even show that much of my bra when I was). So yeah I grabbed my little emergency sewing kit (like this one) and double knotted the string, and did a little criss cross action with the thread until I got up to the 4th grommet (I started at the very bottom of where the lace up detail starts). Then I sewed the seem at the 4th grommet a couple more times and tied a knot and cut off the remaining strings and off Kev and I went to a girlfriend's surprise birthday party.
So if you're like me and love the lace up trend, but aren't a big fan of showing off your bra OR just not wearing one, I hope this little sewing tip helps you get to rock it!
