Navigating the unknown feelings of becoming a mom where so overwhelming when I was pregnant with Bennett. I just couldn't understand how everything would still keep happening, and how I would navigate running the blog, styling, volunteering, girl's nights, time with friends, and ensuring good one on one time with Kevin too. So, now that he's here, and we're in some what of a good "routine" I thought I'd share what we're doing over here to keep all the balls in the air.
First of all Bennett is pretty much sleeping through the night right now. I feel nervous sharing that, as I feel like it's going to jinx us. Like, every time I text Kev to let him know that Bennett is napping, every time without fail, he wakes up! Ugh! But, back to our life and how we "run" it all.
Bennett wakes up around 6:30am pretty much everyday. We feed and play for about an hour an half and then it's time for nap #1. He sleeps for about 1-2 hours! Woop Woop! This is usually when I choose to get myself ready for the day, finish dishes, and work on emails. Then Bennett wakes up, I change him and then we have another bottle and play. He's so fun right now, with all of his crazy noises and smiles. We work on tummy time, I help him roll over, we read and play with his interactive toys. Then before I know it, we are back down for nap #2. During this nap I usually eat lunch, edit photos, write blog posts, work on emails, and pick up around the house. Then we get to play, eat, play some more for another hour an half - two hours and then we're down for nap #3. And this is when I start looking at the rest of the week, and start planning out everything for the rest of the week. Soon after that Kevin gets home, and gets to hang with Bennett before he goes to sleep around 7pm.
So, right now I work when he sleeps, as I really do love getting to be with him while he's up and playful. I also have talked my mom into coming up at least once a month, during the week, to take care of Bennett while I fill the schedule with meetings and just getting ish done! It's amazing that she can come up and do that for us. It makes it a great time to schedule time with clients and other entrepreneurs that I love to spend one on one time with. And luckily my little sister and I had been craving some sister time and she came up last weekend and watched Bennett while Kev and I got to enjoy Take Five! Then Kev took Bennett all day Saturday while Jenny and I shopped all over KC!
It can be tough to juggle, especially if I have a hot deadline and the naps don't last as long as I think they will. But, thankfully Bennett is a sweet baby, and he needs his naps, so I try to keep my plate pretty light during the day. So, he can sleep. But, when I do have things during the day, I try to plan them when he will be awake, and I will definitely always bring plenty of food for him, diapers, and a change of clothes. As it's always good to be prepared when something crazy happens.
I do feel like we'll need to find someone to help, during the day, on a more consistent basis, pretty soon. Just for a couple of hours a day two or three days a week, would be amazing! But, we'll see! Let me know how you've made it all work! I love hearing how stay-at-home mamas make it all work!
