When it came time to find dresses for baby showers I sure wasn't loving my options. First, maternity dresses that are a bit dressier, but not too dressy, and don't break the bank are pretty impossible to find. Either they are SUPER dressy and expensive or they are just casual and affordable. There really aren't great middle of the road options, well, when it comes to our options here in KC that is. So, I got courageous and headed to a place I knew would have a ton of really fun options, Nordstrom Rack.
So here's what I search for when shopping for dresses at non-maternity shops: fitted/ stretchy materials with a midi length hem, a empire waist dress that flows out from the waist, or a shift dress that skims over my hips. I don't discriminate any brands or colors when I'm on the hunt for these silhouettes. I just power through all the racks and search for anything and everything that fits my criteria. Then I take my haul back to the fitting room and try on from there. I usually will snap my favorites and the options that are just too crazy not to share on SnapChat (@caitfore) too. Then I try to remember what events I have coming up and what I my actual needs are. For now it's baby shower dresses. The black and gray fitted and flowy casual numbers I wear during the week just won't cut it, ya know.
So, this floral dress totally, I love how the ruching on the sides and how it's stretchy enough to grow with my bump AND that it's not maternity and I will be able to wear it once the babe is here. See, it is totally a practical purchase! To make sure I would be able to wear it again later I create a look to wear out at night! I love adding jackets over dresses and adding a pump to make the look feel a little bit dressier for a night out. Plus, the removable tassels on these earrings make them work for every occasion. Plus the long gold piece is also removable too, oh and you can throw the tassels on the back of the posts too, just like an earring jacket! So cool right!?
How do you like to take a look from day to night?
xo,
