Co-Chairing a fundraiser is one huge task y'all!? Has anyone else accepted this incredible and daunting task before? I'm obsessed with the Junior League of Kansas City, MO and have been since the moment I walked into headquarters almost 5 years ago! It felt so regal and I could just sense that so many amazing things had gone down in that place. I joined in 2013 and jumped right on in!! It's just like anything you do in life, you will get out of it what you put into it! And so fast forward 5 years and I got the opportunity to Co- Chair on of my favorite events Take Five!!

Take Five is a JLKCMO fundraiser where we get dressed up, eat, drink dance the night away! While raising money through a killer silent auction, raffle, wine toss, and even a Kendra Scott wheel of fortune too! And at the end of the night we give away on lucky winner $5,000!! Isn't that incredible!? It's seriously one of my favorite events in KC! And this year my Co-Chair and I decided we need to spice things up and do a theme, the 1920's!!

Gotta love a good themed party, right!? Well, after Co-Chairing the JLKCMO fundraiser Take Five, I can tell you a theme is a good way to go! This was this events 7th year and man was it awesome! So many people came out to support the Junior League and showed up in their best 1920's gear! And in such a glamorous way too! It was awesome!

I learned so much and was stretched in so many ways from the experience and if you ever want to chat about non-profit fundraising and event organization, hit me up! I'd love to chat strategy!

MY LOOK:

Now let's get into my look because I essentially treated it like prom...and just went for it! I found my dress at Bella Bridesmaids in Leawood. I originally tried it on for my Co-Chair, but she insisted that I get it! And man am I glad I did. ALSO - fun fact: I had actually pinned this dress and then realized it was the one I bought, after the fact. So serendipitous right!?

Then on to my hair, y'all know I dig on Beauty Brands and their blowouts and styling. So, they wanted to treat me to my hair styling for Take Five! And I was totally blown away! So, I met with one of their stylists to talk through all of my ideas and create a game plan that made us both feel super confident about my look! I knew I wanted to wear my hair down and had a jeweled something to my hair. So we decided to go with the old hollywood glad curls and added a jeweled headpiece that clipped into the side of my hair that was pulled back. I love it so much!!

My makeup I was so pumped to work with Gabi Bailey at Pink Lipps! I've been following her forever and knew she would be just the gal for the job. Her instagram is incredible and I could not wait to her create my makeup look for Take Five! I knew I wanted it too look dramatic without looking to costumey. You know what I mean!? And I think she completely knocked it out of the park! If you have an event or just want to get your makeup done (like flawlessly) she is definitely your girl!

My accessories were something I was having a very hard time with. I wanted to wear statement earrings and pearls - but didn't think my neck was long enough to do both (sounds insane and obviously isn't a real problem, I know. But, when you're an over thinker with a mild form of OCD, this is a real issue, for sure.) I made the earrings I'm wearing from random things from Michaels, I think my jewelry professor would be proud!

Here's how I made my tassel earrings:

1. Bought the silver tassels, tassel earrings for stud, and gun metal beads (that was on a drop for a necklace).

2. Detached the (unseen blue) tassels from earring posts. Broke off/ removed the (unseen) marble looking beads, from earring post. Thankfully the gunmetal beads were the same size as the (unseen) marble beads. I glued those on and let the glue dry. I used this glue because it's super strong and flexible too.

3. I then broke off the (unseen) necklace ring from metal silver tassels, and attached the tassels to the earring post with jewelry tools and small silver rings.

4. Then I used wire cutters to trim the tassels to make them shorter.

I also borrowed this strand of pearls from my mama! Which I was so glad she had and let me wear because they were just perfect! And my shoes that you cannot see unfortunately, were the real MVP of the night! They were so pretty and gave me great height so I didn't have to have my dress altered! AND they were comfortable! Like, I'm not kidding when I tell you I have old lady feel. I wear booties to every event because heels kill my feet and I cannot stand in them like I used too. And these, are now my favorite style of shoe and I need them in every color! Oh, and if you're wondering, I did wear them the entire night! I was shocked too! I definitely didn't think that would happen!

I hope you all enjoy this crazy long post and let me know below what your favorite themed party is!!
