Baby Girl Nursery
When we started to plan out Georgia’s nursery, I knew from when I was planning Bennett’s nursery, that I was NOT a fan of the light pink and all white vibe that I saw all over Pinterest. It’s not bad, it’s just not me. Ya know what I mean!? I’m a more-is-more kind of a gal. And I knew I wanted to make it feel cool and glamorous, plus I wanted to use furniture that we already owned too. This space was my office. It was my space of inspiration and hope and taking it apart, to create a special space for my daughter, was honestly something I didn’t ever think I’d get to do. I totally thought I was gonna have all the boys. Setting this up for her was so surreal.
The plan of this little gir'l’s nursery:
Keep the walls white with accent black (chalkboard paint) focal wall. I love the simplicity and contrast of all things black and white.
Keep the bookshelves, style them in a pretty and “useful” way, until they become a real issue (because kids are crazy and might want to climb up them).
Keep the white console cabinet in the room, and transform it into her dresser / changing station.
Bring in Bennett’s crib and glider. (He was not a fan of these things leaving his room. But, I told him we get to use it for Georgia now and it’s still our special chair). Side bar: We transitioning him into a big boy bed, maybe a month before Georgia was born. He could have slept in his crib forever. He has gotten up a bunch since he’s moved to the big bed, but we had to give the crib to Georgia. And he got his big boy bed.
Buy all the art and accessories to bring the space together.
So, with that, the very first thing we purchased for the room was the rug! I knew that I wanted the rug to have pink in it. But, I also knew I wanted to make sure it wasn’t tooooo pink because of the white and black walls (personally not a fan of a bright pink, black and white situation). When we spotted this rug, I knew it would be perfect. I loved the mix of colors and textures and knew it’d be so fun for her space. Kevin also loved it too. Which I thought was so cute!
Now I think it might be more helpful to break down each wall / section of the room and where we found everything for Georgia’s nursery.
CHANGING STATION
Why not make the place where ALL the diapers will be changed, useful and cute!?
Wall Decor:
Bow Mirror found at Goodwill (took some major manifesting / digging to score this thing for $15). Found a similar style here and here
Art Blocks from At Home, loved the colors, and textures to balance out the mirror. Similar style here
Gold Picture Frames from Target, where perfect to show off the floral Georgia O’Keefe floral prints. (My Aunt brought back for me, from Santa Fe after visiting my Dad and Step-Mom. (And yes, this is our Georgia’s name sake)!
Console Cabinet (Top):
Diaper Changing Pad - this pad isn’t sexy, but it’s easy to clean and wipe down.
Pink Woven African Bowl from Pink Chicken- for pacifiers and other small baby things. Similar style here
Green Gem Box from Home Goods - to house her wipes. Love this black and white option here.
Gold and Glass Box to house all of Georgia’s bows.
Monogram Jewelry Box - precious gift from my friend Sabrina. Similar style monogrammed dish here.
Salt Rock Lamp - the soft light it gives off is a nice light and the orangey pink color is lovely too.
Console Cabinet (cubbies):
Top Drawer - it’s tiny but fits the baby socks, diaper creams, and diaper covers.
Middle Drawer - great size for tons diapers.
Bottom Drawers - perfect size for tons of burp rags.
Bins from Target - to store Georgia’s; sleep sacks / toys (top left), diaper pale liners and wipes (bottom left), swaddles/ jammies / diaper coveres (top right), and crib sheets & blankets (bottom right).
Diaper Pale and liners - This one we used with Bennett and I’ve liked it. It’s easy to use, just step on the floor lever and it pops the lid open.
Woven African Basket (Hamper) from Home Goods similar here for all of Georgia’s laundry.
CRIB WALL
Wall Decor:
Love prints from Ikea - sold out now similar style here, here, and here.
Black Frames from Ikea - I love these frames and have them all over our house. They’re a great size and are so classic, you’ll love them.
Crib:
White crib from Ikea - this was Bennett’s crib and we love this thing. The side can also come off and it can be turned into a toddler bed. We’ve loved it!
Crib mattress from Ikea
Crib sheets from Target a fun rainbow printed sheet here and a pretty floral print sheet here.
Plush pink pillow from Target - gifted by my girl Ashley.
Sequin pillow (old) - gifted from my old roommate Danielle way back in 2011. Found a similar style here.
Swan stuffed animal from Target
Swan blanket - a Home Goods find similar style here
Mobile - a picture frame mobile I found at Trader’s and thought it would be cool to hang other things from it too. Similar style here.
Right Bookshelf:
Swan piggy bank from Target similar item here.
White round box from Target - it was apart of the Sugar Christmas packaging but this set is pretty / has a marbled effect that pretty here.
SJP shoes box - Why not have one amazing mama’s initials in her room, right?
Amethyst stone - I’ve had this stone since I was maybe in elementary school. And I love that I got to put it in my daughter’s room.
Conch shell - from our trip to the BVI - I love the texture and the soft pink.
Baby Monitor - We picked this one out because it works well to switch between both Georgia and Bennett’s room.
SJP Teal Suede Pumps - my most favorite pumps I’ve ever owned, and I thought the pop of teal would be fun in here too. I think it’s imperative to have things that make you happy in the kiddos nursery. Ya know, since we spend so much time in there.
Books: Alice and Wonderland, Oh the Places You’ll Go, I Dissent, Rosie Revere, SHE, Places to go, People to see, and Madeline
Left Bookshelf:
White candle from Nordstrom - love the shape and size of this for the space. This is a a similar look here.
Green faux plant from Target - gift from my friend Abagail. It’s so cute and I love it.
Quote sign - my Grandmother gave it to me. And I think it is so sweet in here. I found this sweet one that you can grab here.
Gold Peace Sign Hand Sculpture - One of my favorite pieces that I’ve ever purchased.
Picture frame from Home Goods - love the taupe-y pink of the frame and love this one that’s a similar style here.
Three books: Cupcakes and Cashmere, The Curated Closet, and Cupcakes and Cashmere home book
Necklace stand from Target - a few years ago, but similar here. The feminine touch for the bookcase is so great.
Old J.Crew necklace - similar here
Pink floral box from Home Goods. I thought this was so sweet. And that we could hide random baby stuff in it. Similar style here.
Gray leopard spotted Kate Spade box from Home Goods - houses all our letter board letters and to house extra monitors and baby electrical things too. Similar style is here.
Louis Vuitton box - from my 30th birthday Speedy 35 present. The color and scale are fun for the room.
CHAIR / WINDOW WALL
Baby Glider Chair - we bought it from Buy Buy Baby in 2016 before Bennett was born. They seem to have a lot more customizable options in store. It’s huge and we love it. One of the people that was helping us on it, said she liked how wide the seat is because you can have your oldest sit next to you while you hold / feed the younger one, and they were so right! We’ve done that a million times and it fits all of us well. It’s super cozy and feels like a pillow is behind your head. Kev and I have fallen asleep many a time in this comfy chair.
Side Table from Target - snagged this last year and love the woven element with the stark white. The tiers are fun and I was able to style them a bit too. It gets knocked over ALLLL the time. It’s sturdy so there’s that. Similar here.
Leopard blanket - I’ve had my eye on one of these Barefoot Dreams blankets, for years. And I finally bit the bullet last year during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and it is hands down my favorite blanket in the house. It molds to you and if you have been thinking about it. And can swing it, I highly recommend you do it.
Gold Circle Frame is thrifted similar frame here - love the texture and glam this little picture frame pops.
Pink Succulent plant from Target - it’s so fun with the pops of pink and the glaze on the pot is just too cute. I found a similar set of four one here.
Large Floral Painting from Target - I fell in LOVE with this painting the moment I saw it. The pops of fun pinks, and moody tones had me immediately. Plus the pops of teal too. I knew it would be so great in here.
Woven Wall Hanging from At Home - This was one of those things that I saw and just grabbed - and had no idea where it would go. But, we have one in Bennett’s room so I knew it would be fun to have one in Georgia’s room too. A great option here.
Slim Black Letter G - Another fun find I had, is delicate letter. I found it and just knew it was super special and I was hopeful I’d find a great space to hang it. And we did! I’ve never found a letter like it before, and knew it was special. Similar style here.
Pink Printed Curtains from Target - Another immediate obsession. I saw a panel of these in the most random spot at a Target I don’t usually go too. So then I did a quick search to see if Target had more in stock because I knew I wanted two panels for this little window - so it would block it out for her naps. And they do! They’re pretty and functional. Also - Kev helped me hang these and we made sure the bottom of the curtain barely touched the floor (my fav).
Gold Curtain Rod from Target - It’s the perfect gold and the curtain rings are a must. It’s an easy way to update any window coverings you have in your home.
Gold Curtain rings from Target - These little things are exquisite - they take any simple curtain and immediately update and upgrade them. They look high end and make it super easy to open and close your drapes. If you decide to get these (you totally should) you’ll need one package per window panel that you are wanting to hang. The more the merrier.
Mannequin - You can take the girl out of retail, but you can’t take the retail out of the girl. There is something so chic and fun about a mannequin that I thought it would be fun to keep it in her room. Similar style here.
Black Cross Body Purse - I believe this was left in here from when this room was my office. But, I think it’s cool how it’s just draped over the mannequin so casually.
CLOSET WALL
Green and Gold painting from At Home - I love the layers and colors of this painting. It helps bring in the gold from the other picture in the wall. Similar style here.
Kansas City Map print - Love this sweet little homage to our city. It’s simple and subtle. and I love it in the white matted frame. It softens it a lot.
White Matted Frame from Target - I’m usually more into the black frame with the white matte, but I like how light this feels in this wall collage.
Abstract Painting from At Home - I fell in love with this baby as soon as I saw it. I love an abstract painting, especially of a sunset/ horizon like this one. But, the pops of pink and orange had me hooked. Similar here.
Enjoy the little things art work from At Home - I normally am not one to like artwork with words on it, but this particular piece reminded me of Kate Spade. And the blue and gold together - along with the message, I thought was just too sweet not to have in a little girl’s nursery. A similar option here.
Black and White Picture Frame from Target - Love this frame, it’s classic and makes anything look more elevated. The print is another painting by Georgia O’keefe too.
White Bins from At Home similar here - I use them to hold extra bibs, stuffed animals, and baby blankets (on the left side of the closet) and I use them for extra onesies and Marlin magic sleep suits.
Floral Bag - This was my hospital bag and now I use it for Georgia’s things when we go out of town to see family. It’s pretty big and I’m able to fit pretty much all of her things in it. If you’re looking for a new weekend tote, or a bag for the hospital, I love this one. Similar style here.
White Hangers - You know I love a unified closet of hangers. These are simple and hold everything just as you need it too.
Blue Bins from At Home similar here - These were left over from a shower and I like how they’re smaller and are great for extra baby baubles and bows.
Large White Bin from Target - it’s the same style as the gray and white style that are in her console. I love how lightweight they are and how deep they are. I use it to house all of her fun shoes.
It was so much fun putting this nursery together. I love how it all came together. It’s a really fun space! It is easy to use, and just pretty. I hope it brings you inspiration and makes you think outside the box. Now go and make your space as fun as possible!
